What is gonalgia?

When we talk about gonalgia we refer to the localized pain of the knee that can affect people of all ages indistinctly. The causes can be multiple, and in any case attributable to alterations, injuries or fractures of the meniscus, patella, ligaments and cartilages. In fact, the knee is the joint that undergoes the most stress, therefore more easily subject to traumatic, degenerative and inflammatory diseases.

Symptoms

In most cases, gonalgia is manifested by joint stiffness, redness of the knee, crunching and difficulty in supporting the body in the process of activity.

Pain can affect the anterior area of the patella or back, ligaments due to inflammation or baker’s cyst.

It can also be medial or lateral, frequent in sportsmen. In the first case due to injuries of the meniscus or medial collateral ligament, bruises and sprains, in the second case instead, less frequent, affects the lateral collateral ligament as a result of trauma.

Diagnosis

X-ray, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) or ultrasound can confirm arthrosis, injury, ligament ruptures, necrosis or edema.

Indicated treatments

When the orthopedist accurately diagnoses the causes of gonalgia, a well-targeted therapeutic protocol is carried out that can vary depending on the triggering cause.

You can intervene with muscle strengthening exercises, localized ice packs, focused treatments of regenerative magnetotherapy or in the most severe cases undergoing surgery to repair or replace the joint.

Pseudoarthrosis, how and when it arises.

When a fracture fails to calcify correctly, even if subjected to the most common modern therapeutic methods, it is pseudoarthrosis. In such a condition the human body fails in the process of bone callus formation, due to advanced age, metabolic disorders, alcohol intake and smoking, infection or lack of vascularization.

What are the symptoms?

The most common symptoms are certainly pain, crunching and the feeling that the bones are not stable and therefore moving.

Diagnosis

When the pain persists for more than six months after the fracture and fails to calcify in biological times, the orthopedist is able to confirm the pseudoarthrosis by radiographic or more special examinations such as CT scan or MRI (magnetic resonance imaging).

Indicated treatments

Therapeutic methods can be different:

The grafting of a portion of the patient’s bone directly into the area of the lesion.

Insertion of synthetic means such as metal plates, screws, pins that are screwed inside the bone to stabilize the fragments.

Regenerative magnetotherapy applications that stimulate the proliferation of osteoblasts (active bone tissue cells) in order to consolidate the formation of bone callus.

Osteoplus® magnetotherapy is particularly effective in regenerating bone tissue through a specific and focused treatment

What is hallux valgus?

Hallux valgus or valgism is a pathology inherent in the big toe that mainly affects 40% of women and arises especially at the age of 40 to 60 years. Certainly not exempt are persons of lower age or of male sex, albeit in a small percentage.

Symptoms and imperfections

This pathology, in addition to providing pain and creating problems with walking, is characterized by a transformation of an aesthetic nature of the foot . In fact, the hallux valgus causes a lateral deviation at the expense of the metatarsal-phalanx joint (the appearance is so called “onion”) usually associated with a constant inflammation (bursitis) of the mucous bag located just at the base of the big toe.

Diagnostics

As you can well imagine, the hallux valgus is easily diagnosable through simple observation, but more specific clinical assessments go through more in-depth examinations, such as baropodometric or radiographic aimed at determining the degree of deformity.

Treatments, cures and remedies

Usually treatments intended for the care of the hallux valgus can be of two types: conservative or surgical. The treatment of conservative type is mainly based on the use of comfortable shoes that tend to reduce the stress of the fingers, the insoles that decrease the overload of the front of the foot help to limit the symptomatology of pain, the pads separates fingers for a better distribution of body weight over the entire foot. In addition, the use of anti-inflammatory and/or cortisone is usually used as a conservative therapy.

The surgical type treatment in most cases resorted to an intervention called osteotomy, or an operation with local anesthesia that involves through cuts, the removal of a part of the bone to restore the correct position of the big toe. The advantage of undergoing this surgical technique is definitely functional recovery in a rather short time.

Osteoplus® therapy

In addition, to speed up the calcification process of the hallux valgus after surgery, a biostimulating therapy of Osteoplus ® would be useful, which with a focused treatment acts on cell proliferation by halving the recovery time on the pathology. Book now

Bruise

Who has never suffered a blow or bump? Who has never fallen or hurt himself by hitting a sharp object?

The knock received or caused accidentally causes the so-called contusion to arise. The contusion is manifested by a localized swelling and a bruise that evokes the crushing of the underlying soft tissues and the rupture of the blood vessels. It occurs particularly in places where the bone is more superficial, such as the knee.

Bruises can be of different degrees and danger: they range from simple rupture of capillaries, to hematoma, to necrosis that sees impaired blood circulation.

Bruises according to the affected part of the body are divided into: tendons, muscles, bones and joints.

Certainly practicing physical and impact sports exposes us to a greater chance of suffering a trauma, a knock, but also simple actions or performed distractingly can cause accidents and therefore bruises.

To treat a mild bruise, it is enough to put an ice pack on the affected part, thus reducing the possibility of swelling and the formation of edema. When the bruise is of the 1st degree the cure from the pain is also given by the application of an ointment and a pharmaceutical painkiller cure. If the pain should persist, it is good to contact a specialist; often, the contusion, can be latent and present only later with small annoying pains. This happens when the hematoma remains under the skin, therefore not visible.

In some cases this may resorb naturally, or heal.

In other cases still turn into an edema, IE an accumulation of fluid.

Fluid accumulation not only slows healing, but can even expand and calcify. It often happens that you still feel some small pain in the affected area, despite having completed all the treatments and therapies indicated.

This happens when you are in the presence of fluid (edema), which must be absorbed as soon as possible.

Rental/sale home magnetotherapy

Magnetotherapy is the therapy that by means of a device releases electromagnetic fields with alternating frequency.

Magnetotherapy is a non-invasive, painless therapy that lends itself to countless treatments: resorption of skin edema, repair of fractures( natural, pathological), treatment of osteoarthritis, osteoporosis, algodistroa, osteonecrosis, etc…

In addition to quickly repairing bone fractures following trauma or accidents, magnetotherapy also manages to prevent the occurrence of certain pathologies such as osteoporosis itself.

Magnetotherapy therapy should not necessarily be carried out in hospital but thanks to the use of portable devices of absolute quality, it can be performed directly at home, without altering either the lifestyle or the habits of the patient.

Home therapy is guaranteed for the treatment of trauma in different areas of the body. In the case of the knee, for example, where trauma can arise due to osteoporosis, sprain, tendonitis, arthritis, arthrosis, patellar chondropathy, meniscus injuries, home therapy lends itself to a more rapid and complete healing.

Osteoplus® (latest generation biostimulating magnetotherapy) is delivered already programmed for the specic pathology of the patient previously diagnosed by the specialist.

Painless, practice, and without side eects (only in the case of a pregnant woman, problems with cancer or those persons who have a pacemaker is required the approval of a specialist), magnetic therapy bio-stimulating produced by the device greatly reduces the time of healing, not only from the medical point of view, but especially for his nature “at home”.

Receiving and using the device directly at home, allows the healing path not to suffer sudden interruptions.

Magnetotherapy, possible thanks to a device with an elastic band that is positioned directly on the affected part, can be carried out at home or in a room, sitting at the desk, while watching an lm in bed: the therapy will adapt to your habits.

The most obvious benefits of home magnetotherapy by devices are: osteogenesis for the regeneration of bone tissue and relaxation of muscles with sudden decrease in pain.

Fracture of the wrist.

The Colles fracture (Abraham Colles, the Irish surgeon who first diagnosed it), that is, the fracture of the wrist, is one of the most common fractures. The causes of the Colles fracture can have different nature: traumatic, as a result of accident or fall, pathological, as a result of pathologies such as osteoporosis.

The fracture can also occur as a result of a mild blow or while carrying out habitual activities that do not provide for a huge physical effort.

However, the statistics show that the fracture Colles occurs mainly as a result of trauma and accidents, i.e. following a violent fall on the palm of the hand with the wrist in extension, causing the rupture.

The most exposed subjects are the elderly (in the case of osteoporosis) and sportsmen, skiers, skaters in particular, in the case of trauma and severe accidents.

How does the colles fracture manifest? The fracture presents with an acute pain but the diagnosis is given above all by the shape that characterizes the wrist following the fall, the so-called bayonet deformity or fork back.

How to treat Colles fracture

Colles fractures are treated with the aid of a realignment and immobilization maneuver with gypsum; in more severe cases surgical intervention is necessary.

To regain lost mobility following weeks when arm and wrist are forced into the plaster case, the patient will be able to choose different therapies.

Often the arm, once freed from the plaster, can appear edematous and the elbow instead rigid such as to make dicile even the simplest movements of the arm.

Osteoplus® Biostimulator with its action of lymph drainage and biostimulating magnetotherapy, completely reduces skin edema and strengthens bone tissue.

Osteoplus® also acts through a therapeutic process that reactivates calcium and mineral salts.

Osteoporosis is the so-called “disease of the elderly”.

L’osteoporosi è la cosiddetta “malattia degli anziani”.

As mentioned in the World Health Organization, osteoporosis is a disease characterized by reduced density of bone mass (due to the low natural production of osteoblasts), and alteration of the microstructural bone tissue, responsible of an increased fragility and a consequent increase in fracture risk.

What are the causes of osteoporosis?

The causes of the onset of osteoporosis can be closely related to an unhealthy lifestyle, such as a lack of calcium in the diet or the intake of alcohol, smoking and carbonated drinks.

Fractures caused by osteoporosis are called pathological precisely because they are the “natural” consequence of pathology.

Pathological fractures, therefore, do not arise due to traumatic factors (shock impacts, serious accidents), but as a result of small usual and daily movements that we carry out with natural spontaneity.

This is why osteoporosis is called a silent and deceptive disease: it has no obvious symptoms and can occur when bone tissue has already lost much of its fundamental properties (calcium and mineral salts). A patient will be able to realize that he is subject to the pathology only after a “silly” accident or trauma. Pathology is also divided by degrees (primary and secondary) and by causes.

Typical, however, are pains that are found in people of adulthood and in well-localized and precise areas, wrist fractures of colles or at the expense of the hip and femur.

Diagnosis

For the diagnosis of the fracture (both pathological and traumatic) it is necessary to visit a specialist who will recommend an X-ray, in mild cases, or a CT scan for more accurate control and for the detection of any injuries.

In the case of a pathological fracture due to osteoporosis, Osteoplus® therapy, with modular Pulsed Magnetic Fields at low frequency, non-invasive for bone tissue repair, is an excellent treatment to resume physical exercises quickly and painlessly.

The Osteoplus® biostimulator in fact reduces the healing time and in particular is a therapy that can be carried out in full freedom of movement. The therapy is given by a device of the latest generation, portable, programmed, personal and precise.
